Copyright and Permissions
Everything published by Civil War News — in print and on this site — is copyright © 1974–2026 Historical Publications LLC, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. All rights reserved.
What that covers
The articles, columns, reviews, photographs, illustrations, covers, page design, the arrangement of the archive, and the code of this website. The paper has published continuously since 1974, and the copyright runs across that whole run — through its years as a monthly newspaper and into the bimonthly magazine it became with the May–June 2024 issue.
Contributors keep their own rights
Much of what appears in Civil War News is written and photographed by contributors. They retain copyright in their own work; we publish it by arrangement with them. A request to reprint a signed article or a credited photograph may therefore be a request we have to pass along to its author — write to us and we will tell you who to ask, or ask for you.
